Perhaps Brangelina chose southern France for its blue skies, vineyards and the availability of an estate with a moat. But there’s another reason the world’s most famous expecting couple was smart to come here: French law is tough on paparazzi, especially when it comes to snapping photos of children.
That could come in handy after the birth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins — particularly if they hope to sell rights to the first baby pictures for millions.
In France, where the Jolie-Pitts are believed to be setting up house to prepare for the births of children Nos. 5 and 6, other celebrities have waged war on gossip magazines with relentless, precedent-setting lawsuits.
Often, the tactic pays: Monaco’s royal family grossed $681,120 through lawsuits in France in 2006, the newspaper Le Figaro has reported. On top of fines, magazines are regularly ordered to slap huge “mea culpa” notices across their covers. Read more…

A source familiar with the plans for the chosen twins’ nursery says that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a difficult time settling on a design for the room. Like many a Hollywood couple, they initially consulted with representatives of Beverly Hills’ baby store Petit Tresor for a plan, but when Pitt and Jolie couldn’t come to an agreement on theme, a psychic was brought in to settle on a plan.
“It’s totally true,” says a source familiar with the meeting. “The psychic was to determine the ‘vibe’ of the twins.”
Apparently it was determined the vibe was more girly than modern.
“Brad wanted a nursery filled with furniture with ‘clean lines’ — sort if ’60s modern and lots of natural wood colors and whites,” the source says. “Angelina was much more interested in creating a classic European nursery.” Read more…

DUSTIN HOFFMAN never dreamed the gawky, awkward teenager who showed up to meet him on the set of HOOK would become one of the world’s sexiest women, ANGELINA JOLIE.
The actress was a big fan of the Peter Pan story growing up and so her father, Jon Voight, asked a favour of his Midnight Cowboy co-star - and invited himself and his kids onto the set of the 1991 Steven Spielberg film. Hoffman, who played Captain Hook in the movie version of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, never imagined he’d one day be working with the girl who his friend brought to meet him.
Now co-starring with Jolie in Kung Fu Panda, Hoffman recalls, “This film was the second time I met her. The first time was on Hook and Jon Voight whom I worked with on Midnight Cowboy called me up on the set and said, ‘My kids are dying to meet Captain Hook. Can I come over?’ Read more…

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have spared no expense when it comes to the nursery for their twins.
The expecting parents have spent a reported $140,000 to create a baby haven, according to the New York Daily News’ Rush & Molloy.
Brad and Angelina reportedly bought the essentials at chic Los Angeles baby store, Petit Tresor.
Some of the luxury items the twins will enjoy include organza bassinets for $800, Versailles-style cribs for $3,200, and armoires for $4,500 each.
The twins will also enjoy two pink crystal chandeliers, which set back the couple almost $900 for each of the sparkling light fixtures. Read more…

Hollywood director CLINT EASTWOOD is convinced people underestimate ANGELINA JOLIE - because she is such a beautiful woman.
The actor-turned-moviemaker directs Jolie in new movie The Changeling and he insists that although she is one of the most attractive stars in the world, she is also an impressive actress with more substance to her personality than she is given credit for.
And Eastwood believes critics overlook her other qualities because of her appearance.
He says, “I think that people underestimate her talent because she is such a good-looking woman. That was a problem Ingrid Bergman encountered. Bette Davis didn’t have that handicap; her face didn’t fit the standards of glamour. People instantly though of her as a great actress.
“Angelina Jolie is more like Simone Signoret, whose obvious glamour never obscured her personality.”

Jack Black’s Po the panda outgunned Adam Sandler’s Zo the hairdresser. Black’s cartoon comedy “Kung Fu Panda” pulled in $60 million in ticket sales to debut as the weekend’s No. 1 movie, while Sandler’s salon romp “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” opened in second place with $40 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The movies combined to carry Hollywood to a big weekend. The top 12 films took in $172.4 million, up 32 percent from the same weekend last year when “Ocean’s Thirteen” led with a $36.1 million opening.
DreamWorks Animation’s “Panda” and Sony’s “Zohan” bumped off the previous weekend’s leader, the Warner Bros. chick flick “Sex and the City,” which slipped to fourth place with $21.3 million.
That was a steep 63 percent decline from its $56.8 million debut, but with a total of $99.3 million “Sex and the City” was just shy of $100 million hit status after only 10 days. Read more…

Angelina Jolie — mother to a 3-year-old Ethiopian daughter — is upset that there aren’t any black Disney princesses.
“There still isn’t a Disney princess that’s African and it’s very difficult because our daughter’s getting into princesses right now and it upsets me,” she told OK! Magazine.
The Walt Disney Co., however, plans to release the animated musical fairy tale “The Frog Princess,” which features a black princess (and will be set in New Orleans) next year.
In March, Disney said its new animated princess — Maddy — will be added to its collection of animated princesses used at the company’s theme parks and on consumer products. Read more…

A day before Angelina Jolie’s 33rd birthday, the “Babel” actor dropped more than $50,000 on art in Switzerland.
On Tuesday, Brad Pitt was chauffeured in a BMW to Switzerland’s Art Basel fair, where he spent more than two hours snapping up goodies.
Brad Pitt was in Switzerland Tuesday attending Art Basel. Perhaps he was shopping for pregnant partner Angelina Jolie’s birthday, she turns 33 today, as he dropped a pretty penny on a hollow marble table. He also bought an aluminum thread rug for an unspecified amount.
Aside from two bronze chairs designed by Max Lamb (at $25,000 a pop!), a fair attendee, Brad Pitt also scored a foam and fiberglass “Family Lamp” and reportedly a $293,000 table. Read more…

When reports spread on May 30 that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins — reports that turned out to be untrue — she wasn’t annoyed. In fact, she and Brad Pitt laughed about the rumor, an insider says, because they were the ones partly responsible for it. “Brad and Angie are doing everything they can to keep the birth of the twins top secret,” says the insider.
Brad, 44, and Angelina, 33, also had privacy in mind when they selected their new villa on the Riviera and into Chateau Miraval, near Aix-en-Provence, France. “The new house is very secure and nearly impossible to see into,” says the insider. “They felt there wasn’t enough privacy at the old place.
The couple aren’t just concerned about the well-being of the twins. They’re also worried about Angelina. In the July issue of Vanity Fair, Angie says she loves being pregnant: “I happen to be with somebody who finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy.” But recent days have been tough. “Angelina was feeling really run-down after the Cannes Film Festival in May,” the insider says. “It took a lot out of her. So she’s just relaxing now and not doing anything that takes a lot of energy.”

“Entertainment Tonight” aired a story about the birth of Angelina Jolie’s twins despite being repeatedly told beforehand that the report was based on information from someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant, according to documents and two people with knowledge of the exchange.
The celebrity newsmagazine denied Wednesday that it knew about an impostor before the broadcast. The identity of the impostor remained unknown.
On Friday morning, the show posted a story on its Web site and sent an e-mail alert to media outlets saying it had confirmed the birth of Jolie’s twins. The Associated Press picked up the report.
“Entertainment Tonight” did not name its source at the time. It later revealed that the report was based on e-mails from someone it thought was Jolie assistant Holly Goline. Read more…

A fierce bidding war has broken out between two celebrity gossip magazines for the first exclusive pictures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins.
Two of America’s leading magazines, OK! and People, are reportedly battling it out to get their mitts on snaps of Brangelina’s as yet unborn twins.
Jolie and Pitt are expecting twins to add to their brood of adopted children, Maddox, Pax and Zahara, and biological daughter Shiloh.

Dustin Hoffman is offering Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt a lifetime of gifts for their twins if the pregnant actress gives birth on his birthday – August 8. Hoffman let slip that the actress was due on August 19 at the Cannes film festival, and he’s now hoping to share the day he was born with the twins.
“She’s meant to be due on August 19th, and it’s my birthday on August 8th,” Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. “If she could will that birth to be on my birthday, there’s no end the gifts I would give. It’s the least she could do,” he added.
The newest additions will take the Brangelina brood to six. The A-list celebrity couple is already parents to Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.
