Posted by Fai on June 12, 2008

Angelina Jolie is being lined up to star in the new Muppets movie. The 33-year-old actress – who is set to give birth to twins later this month – has reportedly been approached to feature in the film because she is such a huge fan of the Jim Henson creations.

A source said: “The idea is to re-launch the Muppets with a big name and a big movie. Angelina is a big Muppets fan and being so passionate about kids there’s a very real chance that she’ll take this project on. “Even Brad might want to have Miss Piggy as a love interest!” Angelina has previously revealed she thinks she looks like one of the comical puppets.

She said: “I am odd-looking. I sometimes think I look like a funny Muppet!” Angelina already has three adopted children – Maddox, six, Pax, three, and two-year-old Zahara – and a two-year-old biological daughter Shiloh with Brad. Read more…

Angelina beats Brad in Forbes ‘Most Powerful Celebs’ list

Posted by Fai on June 11, 2008

Angelina Jolie has more influence than her partner Brad Pitt, according to the just-released Forbes list of ‘The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities’.

Jolie comes in at number 3 on the list, following list regulars Oprah Winfrey, who took the top spot for the second year in a row, and golfer Tiger Woods who appears at number two. Pitt makes the list at number 10.

The annual list, compiled by Forbes magazine, ranks the world’s most powerful – and best-paid – celebrities. To create the list, Forbes uses estimates of a star’s earnings, then factors in media metrics like Google hits, press mentions and the number of times an A-lister appears on the cover of more than 50 consumer magazines. Angelina Jolie: A Candid Q&A

Posted by Fai on

Think it’s difficult finding a Father’s Day present for the man in your life? Try being Angelina Jolie.

”Brad is the hardest person to shop for,” she says of her partner, Brad Pitt, while checking out a window display of Corum watches at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat in the south of France. ”He has impeccable design taste. And whenever he sees something he likes, he buys it for himself.” Pitt’s most recent gift to Jolie — the gun-charm necklace she wore to her EW photo shoot — is also a tough act to follow.

”Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios,” she explains. ”He’s all into war and guns. So for Mother’s Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It’s really cute. I think it’s really good!”

Leave it to Angelina Jolie to drop the words cute and machine gun in the same breath. The 33-year-old Academy Award winner has always cultivated dual identities: On the one hand, she’s been the Mistress of the Dark (as in her fascinations with tattoos, knives, and blood); on the other, she’s the Minister of Light (her work promoting international peace). Her next starring film roles keep that dichotomy alive: On June 27 she appears as Fox, a morally driven assassin who mentors a shlubby office worker (Atonement’s James McAvoy) in the graphically violent Wanted, directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch). And in October she stars in Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Changeling, as a 1920s single mom whose 9-year-old son disappears.

Changeling’s premiere at the recent Cannes Film Festival earned Jolie strong reviews, but her life off screen garnered even more attention: Paparazzi have been tailing Jolie, Pitt, and their four children (Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2) all over southern France. And last month’s false reports that Jolie, who’s expecting twins later this summer, delivered early caused a media maelstrom. (”I just think it’s all a bit crazy,” she says of the tabloid insanity in general. ”They just have to make up stuff. We find it odd all the time because we’re probably very boring people when it comes to many things.”) Over a lunch of filet mignon and iced tea, Jolie discussed her new films and her polarizing public persona.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt getting excited about being a big sister

After two years as the baby of the family, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is reportedly adjusting to the idea that she’ll now be a big sister to some of her siblings as well as a little one.

A source close to the Jolie-Pitt family told OK magazine: “It took her a while, but now she’s as excited as the rest of the family.

“She puts her hands on Angie’s stomach to feel the twins kick and she jumps back and starts grinning!”

The source added that Shiloh is preparing to take to her big sister duties seriously and is pushing forward with her own development: “She’s got her pull-up diapers and tells Mom and Dad when she has to go to the bathroom. Read more…

‘Medieval’ paparazzi laws could benefit Brangelina

Perhaps Brangelina chose southern France for its blue skies, vineyards and the availability of an estate with a moat. But there’s another reason the world’s most famous expecting couple was smart to come here: French law is tough on paparazzi, especially when it comes to snapping photos of children.

That could come in handy after the birth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins — particularly if they hope to sell rights to the first baby pictures for millions.

In France, where the Jolie-Pitts are believed to be setting up house to prepare for the births of children Nos. 5 and 6, other celebrities have waged war on gossip magazines with relentless, precedent-setting lawsuits.

Often, the tactic pays: Monaco’s royal family grossed $681,120 through lawsuits in France in 2006, the newspaper Le Figaro has reported. On top of fines, magazines are regularly ordered to slap huge “mea culpa” notices across their covers. Read more…

Jolie, Pitt nursery designer guided by psychic

Posted by Fai on

A source familiar with the plans for the chosen twins’ nursery says that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a difficult time settling on a design for the room. Like many a Hollywood couple, they initially consulted with representatives of Beverly Hills’ baby store Petit Tresor for a plan, but when Pitt and Jolie couldn’t come to an agreement on theme, a psychic was brought in to settle on a plan.

“It’s totally true,” says a source familiar with the meeting. “The psychic was to determine the ‘vibe’ of the twins.”

Apparently it was determined the vibe was more girly than modern.

“Brad wanted a nursery filled with furniture with ‘clean lines’ — sort if ’60s modern and lots of natural wood colors and whites,” the source says. “Angelina was much more interested in creating a classic European nursery.” Read more…

Dustin Hoffman Met Awkward Jolie When She Was A Teen

Posted by Fai on June 10, 2008

DUSTIN HOFFMAN never dreamed the gawky, awkward teenager who showed up to meet him on the set of HOOK would become one of the world’s sexiest women, ANGELINA JOLIE.

The actress was a big fan of the Peter Pan story growing up and so her father, Jon Voight, asked a favour of his Midnight Cowboy co-star – and invited himself and his kids onto the set of the 1991 Steven Spielberg film. Hoffman, who played Captain Hook in the movie version of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, never imagined he’d one day be working with the girl who his friend brought to meet him.

Now co-starring with Jolie in Kung Fu Panda, Hoffman recalls, “This film was the second time I met her. The first time was on Hook and Jon Voight whom I worked with on Midnight Cowboy called me up on the set and said, ‘My kids are dying to meet Captain Hook. Can I come over?’ Read more…

Clint Eastwood: ‘People Underestimate Angelina Jolie’

Posted by Fai on

Hollywood director CLINT EASTWOOD is convinced people underestimate ANGELINA JOLIE – because she is such a beautiful woman.

The actor-turned-moviemaker directs Jolie in new movie The Changeling and he insists that although she is one of the most attractive stars in the world, she is also an impressive actress with more substance to her personality than she is given credit for.

And Eastwood believes critics overlook her other qualities because of her appearance.

He says, “I think that people underestimate her talent because she is such a good-looking woman. That was a problem Ingrid Bergman encountered. Bette Davis didn’t have that handicap; her face didn’t fit the standards of glamour. People instantly though of her as a great actress.

“Angelina Jolie is more like Simone Signoret, whose obvious glamour never obscured her personality.”
