They’ll always have Nice.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s soon-to-be-born twins will always be considered honorary citizens of Nice, regardless of whether they opt to obtain French citizenship, the mayor of Nice said Friday.

The Hollywood super couple have chosen the relatively low-key Rivieria city for the birth of their twins, expected within weeks. Jolie has been hospitalized since Sunday in the seaside Lenval hospital, which has a magnificent view of the Mediterranean below. Pitt has been making regular visits, often with some of their children in tow. Read the rest of this entry…

Angelina Jolie’s doctor says her twins may take a few more weeks to arrive.

Dr. Michel Sussmann spoke at a brief news conference Wednesday in Nice, where Jolie is hospitalized. Asked when the 33-year-old actress is expected to have her twins, he replied: “I can’t give you a date. Let’s say the birth will happen in the weeks to come.”

Sussmann stressed that Jolie checked into the hospital to be kept under observation, not because of any medical emergency.

“Mrs. Angelina Jolie and her husband, Mr. Brad Pitt, told me to tell you that she is doing absolutely fine,” said the doctor, apparently unaware that the actors aren’t married. Read the rest of this entry…

Angelina Jolie’s obstetrician is giving a news conference to talk about his famous patient and her eagerly awaited twins.

The seafront Lenval hospital in Nice, on the French Riviera, says Jolie has checked into its Santa Maria maternity clinic to be kept under doctors’ watch and rest up before she gives birth.

The clinic has invited reporters to a news conference later Wednesday with Dr. Michel Sussmann. Read the rest of this entry…

Brangelina’s twins aren’t here yet, but the big day is drawing closer. The seafront Lenval hospital in Nice in the south of France said Tuesday that Angelina Jolie had checked in at its Santa Maria maternity clinic to be kept under doctors’ surveillance and get some rest before she gives birth.

“There’s no urgency. It’s been planned for a long time,” said Nadine Bauer, a hospital spokeswoman. “She’s very well. Everything is fine.”

“She is not on the verge of giving birth, not at all,” she said. “It’s not for right away.”

The 33-year-old actress will almost certainly remain in the hospital until she gives birth, Bauer said. She said Jolie was admitted recently but would not say exactly when. Read the rest of this entry…

Pixar and Disney’s endearing toon “Wall-E” and Universal’s Angelina Jolie actioner “Wanted” both did socko business at the weekend box office as overall B.O. revenues for the year ran ahead of 2007 levels for the first time in months.

“Wall-E” easily won the weekend in grossing an estimated $62.5 million from 3,992 runs. The R-rated “Wanted” rocketed past expectations in grossing an estimated $51.1 million from 3,175. Each made the record books.

“Wall-E” nabbed the third best opening for a Pixar film after “The Incredibles” ($70.5 million) and “Finding Nemo” ($70.2 million). It is the second best June opening of all time after “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” ($94.7 million). Read the rest of this entry…

Hollywood is full of swollen-lipped actresses, but Jolie has the spirit to match those tire-treads.

She burst out of the gate in 1998’s “Gia,” about the glowering supermodel who embodied a new kind of tough glamour and died of AIDS. I remember her blasting through a scene stark naked - sorry, folks, can’t show it! - and admiring her fearlessness more than her body, which is saying a lot.

But Jolie has so large a presence she doesn’t need to pull out the stops or take off her clothes. She can underplay dryly, toying with lines and co-stars, which is why she was so smashing as a sociopath in “Girl, Interrupted,” devastating fellow patients to keep from turning her acid gaze inward. The money shot in “Wanted,” its pièce-de-special-effects-résistance and reason for green-lighted being, appears in the opening minutes of this noisy, ultraviolent shoot-’em-up with Angelina Jolie, her many tattoos and some guys. A man has soared onto the roof of a high-rise where he has laid a handful of others to waste. Suddenly the camera cuts to his face as a bullet exits his forehead in slow motion, his skin stretching forward as the projectile tears through it, going straight for the camera and our already numbed skulls.

Well, that’s one way to get the attention of fickle moviegoers, particularly if, like the director Timur Bekmambetov, you’ve got nothing else going for your big Hollywood debut except Ms. Jolie and a couple of ideas recycled from “The Matrix” and “Fight Club.” Mind you, Ms. Jolie has been perfectly cast as a super-scary, seemingly amoral assassin named (wait for it) Fox. Few American actresses, especially those with such pin-skinny arms, can make beating a guy to the ground look so easy and, yeah, man, like fun. With her mean smiley-sneer and snug clothes, her heels and hieroglyphics, she cuts the kind of disciplinarian figure who can bring antsy boys of all ages to their knees or at least into their theater seats. Actress ANGELINA JOLIE has been dropped as the face of Japanese cosmetics giant SHISEIDO to make room for a new celebrity face.

The 33-year-old star signed on as the brand’s ambassador in 2006 - but after two years of appearing in commercials and print ads for the brand, she has been outed from her post by British supermodel model Agyness Deyn.

Deyn can be seen as the brand’s new spokesmodel in their Fall 2008 Maquillage ad campaign.
It’s not the only contract pregnant Jolie has lost - she parted company with fashion house St. John last month (May08), ending a three-year relationship with the company.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s love for children is by no means limited to their own: The couple has donated $1 million to help kids affected by the war in Iraq, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict announced Wednesday.

The organization will distribute the donation, made through the couple’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to four organizations working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq. Children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.

“These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal,” said Jolie in a written statement from Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which she co-chairs. Read the rest of this entry…

Contrary to reports, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not selling their New Orleans home, according to The Times-Picayune.

“This rumor going around that they’ve sold or are selling their house in New Orleans is not true,” Trevor Neilson, a rep for the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, told the newspaper. “It’s just made up, as are a lot of things that are said about them.”

The couple purchased the $3.5 million abode in the Big Easy’s French Quarter in January 2007. It has served as a home base for Pitt’s work with the Make It Right Foundation, as well as his time filming “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Pitt and Jolie, who is pregnant with twins, recently signed a lease on the spacious, private Chateau Miraval in France.

The buzz at the “Wanted” premiere last week — attended by James McAvoy, Terence Stamp and Thomas Kretschmann — was that Angelina Jolie is expected to give birth to her twins on July 4.

Neither Angie nor her co-star Morgan Freeman were at the LA Film Festival’s opening-night premiere of their much-anticipated action film. But she was still the talk of the carpet and the after-party.

“Four different people — from publicists for the festival to studio publicists — told me in confidence that the birth will take place on July 4,” Dish Rag’s Deep Throat reports.

The supposition among Brangelina-watchers is that Angelina Jolie will probably have another caesarean delivery, which can be scheduled to suit her desired due date. Read the rest of this entry…

There’s sexy, and then there’s scary-sexy.

Angelina Jolie certainly earns the extra adjective.

Those lips simultaneously pout and snarl, those eyes smolder, and her body seems specifically designed for seduction or attack.

That added sense of danger is what separates Jolie from all the other leading ladies of Hollywood. She frightens even as she tempts.

On-screen, she can be fearsome (Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), blazing guns and throwing punches in costumes that are part dominatrix, part commando. She can be sentimental, as in A Mighty Heart, TheGood Shepherd or the upcoming 1930s drama Changeling, but those aren’t part of the mystique and have been less popular with audiences than her glamorous roles. The development troubles for Lionsgate’s planned adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged continue with the reported departure of filmmaker Vadim Perelman.

According to Cinematical, Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) says the project will not be going forward with him in the director’s chair. Perelman had been tasked with writing and directing the flick, but it’s also unclear whether he completed a draft of the screenplay. A previous draft was penned by Randall Wallace (Braveheart), who managed to pair down Rand’s magnum opus of over 1,000 pages into a 127-page screenplay. Read the rest of this entry…
