“Listen, man, Jen is a sweetheart,” Brad tells W magazine. “I think she got dragged into that one, and then there’s a second round to all of that Angie versus Jen. It’s so created.”

In Vogue’s November 2008 issue, Jennifer called year-old comments from Angelina about the brunette star’s eagerness to get to the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” “uncool.”

And, in December’s GQ, Jen discussed Angelina’s recent revelation in the NY Times about how she couldn’t wait to show the Brangelina brood “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” because it was the movie “where their parents fell in love.”

There has been speculation that Jen was referring to the timing of Angie and Brad’s love affair starting before he and Jen were officially done. Brad says that’s bull hockey.

“What people don’t understand is that we filmed (’Mr. & Mrs. Smith’) for a year,” he explains. “We were still filming after Jen and I split up. Even then it doesn’t mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn’t. I’m very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. [The film] will mean something to our kids. It will, that’s all.”

Edwin A. Salt has become Edwina A. Salt has become Evelyn A. Salt. Good choice! Angelina can’t play an Edwina! Too derivative of the masculine.

Jolie, 33, and one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses, will portray a CIA agent who goes on the lam after being accused of being a Russian sleeper agent.

The Daily Mail also reports that Jolie wants rewrites of the screenplay by Oscar-winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland.

“Angelina is determined to make sweeping changes before filming starts.” a source says. “She’s demanding the writers improve the dialogue before she sets foot on set.”

Jolie is said to want the film to be the start of a franchise, almost like a female version of the Bourne series that Matt Damon stars in.

Well, if anyone can pull off a gun-totin’ female out for blood, it’s Mama Angie. Bad a** is her default mode (Tomb Raider, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Wanted).

Star magazine recently reported that the couple is currently making plans to walk down the aisle, with the pair signing a multi-million dollar contract detailing how they will split their property, finances and custody of their children if they later break up.

But a representative for Jolie has slammed the reports, telling Us Weekly.com, “There is no truth to any of these claims.”

Pitt recently admitted he would consider marrying Jolie “if we feel it’s important to our kids.”

Affleck showed his trademark humor when he joked about Jolie’s participation at the press conference for his short movie, Gimme Shelter, in NYC on Wednesday.

“UNHCR has to find a goodwill ambassador who will get the attention of the press because the woman they’ve got is not high profile enough,” Affleck said.

Jolie, who has been the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees goodwill ambassador since early 2001, has worked with field staff and met with refugees in more than 20 countries.

Like Jolie, Affleck has tried to use his star power to enlighten the public on important global causes.

“One of the things about being an actor is that I’ve had the opportunity to be exposed to really smart people,” he said. “People have been really generous. I expose myself to those people and say, ‘Help me learn about this,’ and I’ve given myself a great post-graduate experience in this arena.”

His film, a four-minute humanitarian campaign for victims of the fighting in Eastern Congo, is set to the Rolling Stone song of the same name.

The late Dark Knight star earned the near-mandatory Screen Actors Guild nomination as the field for the 15th annual SAG Awards was revealed this morning.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were among the other top film nominees.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, Frost/Nixon, Milk and Slumdog Millionaire will vie for SAG’s equivalent of Oscar’s Best Picture honor: Best motion-picture ensemble.

Ledger was nominated in the supporting actor category; Pitt and Jolie as best leads, for Benjamin Button and Changeling, respectively.

The Dark Knight’s cast, Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood were among the snubbed.

Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were among those nominated Thursday morning for Golden Globes, part of Hollywood’s pre-Oscar awards’ season frenzy now underway.

Pitt was nominated for his leading dramatic role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which, along with director Ron Howard’s adaptation of the stage drama Frost/Nixon and another stage-to-screen transfer, Doubt, led the Globes’ list, with five nominations each.

The Reader, Revolutionary Road and Slumdog Millionaire are also nominees for best dramatic picture. Best musical or comedy movie nominees are Burn After Reading, Happy-Go-Lucky, In Bruges, Mamma Mia! and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Meryl Streep nabbed two nominations: best dramatic actress for Doubt and musical or comedy actress for Mamma Mia!. Kate Winslet also has the chance for double honors, as leading dramatic actress in Revolutionary Road and as supporting-actress in The Reader.

Besides Pitt, the other dramatic leading actor nominees are Leonardo DiCaprio, Revolutionary Road; Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon; Sean Penn, Milk (that acclaimed film’s only nomination); and Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler.

Jolie and Streep’s competition for best dramatic movie actress will come from Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married; and Kristin Scott Thomas, I’ve Loved You So Long.

In the TV division, the Globes smiled upon Tina Fey, whose Emmy-winning NBC sitcom 30 Rock was nominated as best comedy series, along with that same network’s The Office, Showtime’s Californication and Weeds and HBO’s Entourage.

In the dramatic series category, those cited were FOX’s House (the only broadcast network nominee), HBO’s In Treatment and True Blood, Showtime’s Dexter and AMC’s Emmy winner Mad Men.

‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ actor tells Rolling Stone magazine that he no longer argues with Angelina. “Angie and I do not fight anymore. What occurred to me on this film (Benjamin Button), and also with the passing of her mother, is that there’s going to come a time when I’m not going to get to be with this person anymore.”

Brad says he gets “defensive” when he feels people aren’t reporting on “Angie” accurately. “[They're] talking about not only the woman I love, but one of the people on this planet who I have the greatest respect for. I think she’s as honorable as anyone I’ve ever met.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie held hands at times as they walked the off-white carpet at the premiere of Pitt’s latest film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The blinding flash of camera lights — from journalists and paparazzi in the streets fired off in rapid motion following the couple’s every move.

Pitt, who was being hurried into the theatre chatted about the buzz around the film, which is loosely based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story.

“I think David (Fincher, the director) has created something really, really special here,” said Pitt, who was trying to catch up with Jolie and family. “It’s certainly unique and unlike anything you’ve seen before. But it’s in the vein of this classic, epic story. This is the first film where an actor gets to start the performance from birth to death; it’s a new direction.”

Others at the premiere chatted about the film’s premise, which follows the life of Button (Pitt) who is born with the appearance and physical limitations of a man in his eighties, but who grows younger as he ages.

Would they change anything about their lives or pasts should they be granted such a fate?

“Not that my life is in any way perfect, but I wouldn’t change anything,” said co-star Cate Blanchett, who was dressed in a mosaic Alexander McQueen dress. “Because if I change one single thing, I wouldn’t have the children I have. I wouldn’t have the partner I have. You have to repair and forgive the mistakes that you’ve made and just try not to repeat them.”

Julia Ormond, who plays Blanchett’s adult daughter in the movie says that she’d rather take a cue from the movie: live while you can.

“Ultimately what I take away from this movie is to live in the present. I feel like I’ve been more shaped by my mistakes. It’s made me who I am today. And there are a bunch of them I’d probably make again, and I will” said the actress, dressed in Versace. “I know I worried so much about what’s going to happen to me and how I’m going to do it. I wish I’d taken a big fat chill pill and had fun.”

And likewise Taraji Henson, who stars as Benjamin Button’s adoptive mother, says that she wouldn’t tweak a thing.

“Every bump in the road, every wall I’ve run into, it’s made me who I am,” Henson said. “And I’m happy.”

Those are some of the matchups for the 14th annual Critics’ Choice Awards, out this morning with nominations.

Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will vie for Best Picture against partner Jolie’s Changeling. Ten films overall were nominated. The others: The Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, WALL-E and the not-yet released Doubt, The Reader and The Wrestler.

Despite a category that’s about as crowded as Pitt and Jolie’s house, there was no room for a couple of notable films.

Box-office bust Australia and the upcoming Revolutionary Road, featuring the Titanic reteaming of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, both were denied a shot at the top prize. Australia earned but one nomination overall; Revolutionary Road, zero.

Benjamin Button and Milk led with eight nominations each, including ones for their respective leading men: Pitt and Sean Penn.

The late Ledger is up against Hollywood survivor Downey Jr. for Best Supporting Actor. Downey Jr., who’s been getting the Best Actor push for Iron Man, is in the game for Tropic Thunder. Ledger earned his expected nod for tormenting Batman in The Dark Knight.

Springsteen will try to hold off Cyrus in Best Song. The two penned nominated cuts for The Wrestler and Bolt, respectively.

Sorting through the other nominations:

* Clint Eastwood, 78 years young, earned two individual nods: One for Best Actor, for Gran Torino; and, one for composing the score for Changeling.
* Proving himself mortal, Eastwood was not nominated for Best Director, even though he helmed both Gran Torino and Best Picture contender Changeling.
* The Best Director category, which names only five nominees, not 10, gives a better picture than Best Picture of this award-season’s true heavyweights. As such, look for Slumdog Millionaire, helmed by nominee Danny Boyle, Benjamin Button (David Fincher), Frost/Nixon (Ron Howard), The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan) and Milk (Gus Van Sant) to dominate the Oscar discussion.
* Another award show, another Best Actress nomination for Rachel Getting Married’s Anne Hathaway. Her competition comes chiefly from the Brad Pitt wing of Hollywood: Jolie, his offscreen costar, up for Changeling; and, Cate Blanchett, his Benjamin Button costar.
* Not adverse to lots and lots of movie stars attending its show, the Critics’ Choice Awards presents trophies for Best Action Movie and Best Comedy. And, yes, that means Wanted and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, two nominees from those categories, will not go unnoticed this winter.
* If you used the Critics’ Choice Awards as your Oscar guide last year, you did okay in the office pool. No Country for Old Men, Daniel-Day Lewis, Javier Bardem and Ethan and Joel Coen all duplicated their Critics’ Choice wins come the Academy Awards.

The 14th annual Critics’ Choice Awards, voted on by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, are due to be presented Jan. 8.
