Ain’t It Cool News has premiered the new Angelina Jolie teaser poster for Universal Pictures’ Wanted, directed by Timur Bekmambetov and co-starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann and Common. Based on Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series, the thriller hits theaters on June 27.

The last thing the martial-arts fans behind “Kung Fu Panda” wanted to do was make fun of the genre they were re-imagining for the animated world.
So while their leading guy is a tubby, klutzy panda with Jack Black’s voice, the filmmakers have delivered a real kung fu movie in the guise of a cartoon comedy.
Directors Mark Osborne and John Stevenson said they intended their panda hero and his comrades — including a tiger (Angelina Jolie), a viper (Lucy Liu) and a monkey (Jackie Chan) — to be the animal-world equivalent of the Asian action warriors they admire.

Angelina Jolie is being lined up to star in a film inspired by the exploits of an investigator probing the murky worlds of arms trafficking and terrorism, entertainment industry reports said Wednesday.
Jolie, recently seen in “A Mighty Heart” and “Beowulf,” will play a character based on real-life spy Kathi Lynn Austin, who has undertaken field missions in Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia and Central America.

The medieval battlefield epic “Beowulf” ushered in a new age at North American movie theaters, opening at No. 1 with almost half the ticket sales for the new box office champ coming from 3-D theaters.
According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis’ innovative hybrid of live-action and animation sold $28.1 million worth of tickets during its first three days.
“Beowulf” was the largest release in modern 3-D history, playing in 742 theaters across North America, accounting for about 20 percent of the print count. Sales from those theaters contributed just over 40 percent of the total haul.

Director Vadim Perelman has been brought in to direct the movie adaptation of Ayn Rand’s best-seller ‘Atlas Shrugged’ starring Angelina Jolie.
Perelman, who has been roped in by Lionsgate, will also be penning the script for the movie based on a draft by “Braveheart” scribe Randall Wallace, who managed to boil down Rand’s 1,100-plus page book to a 127-page script.

I remember very little about the Pierce Brosnan / Rene Russo version of The Thomas Crown Affair. I know that A) I liked it, B) that Rene Russo was frequently topless in it (see A), and C) there was a really cool scene with a bunch of dudes in hats. The film grossed a respectable $70 million back in 1999, and was a huge hit on video. And now a sequel is underway. You’ll remember Thomas Crown was a remake of the Steve McQueen / Faye Dunaway original, which did not spawn a sequel. So are they coming up with an original story for TCA Part 2? Of course not, silly! Brosnan told Filmstalker that the sequel will be based on the Peter Ustinov classic Topkapi, and will be called The Topkapi Affair.
