A Jolie good show

ANGELINA Jolie may be playing an anguished mother in her latest film The Changeling, but in this exclusive interview, she explains why she’s never been happier.

Angelina Jolie is in a buoyant mood as she sweeps into New York for the premiere of her new film The Changeling, directed by Clint Eastwood.

“This is such a beautiful time for me,” the elegant, green-eyed actor says.

“When I look back on my life, I never really believed that I would find this kind of happiness on so many different levels. Read more…

Angelina Jolie talks ‘Changeling,’ motherhood

Posted by Fai on November 12, 2008

Angelina Jolie appeared at the double-wide doorway of a penthouse suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel unsmiling and peering warily from behind a curtain of dark hair. Attired in an opalescent, knee-skimming silk dress, she seemed grave — imperious and businesslike enough to give German Chancellor Angela Merkel a run for her new ranking as most powerful woman in the world. The actress was flanked by her manager, publicist and two burly security guards; together the pack had come from an adjoining suite where Jolie’s team of hairstylists and makeup artists had just finished plying their trade.

She was here to talk about her critically acclaimed performance in ” Changeling,” which reached theaters last month and has predictably placed Jolie within a hive of Oscar buzz. She was also here to present an award at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala. Unbeknown to a panoply of Hollywood bigwigs, who were packed into the hotel’s ballroom, Jolie had flown in under the celebrity radar to hand “Changeling” director Clint Eastwood a director of the year statuette. (It would be widely reported later that the crowd “gasped audibly” when Jolie was introduced.) Read more…

Angelina Jolie Already Thinking of Another Adoption

Posted by Fai on October 18, 2008

The wheels are already turning in Angelina Jolie’s head, the Changeling star admitted in a lengthy Today show interview Thursday: She and Brad Pitt are considering another adoption.

“Soon?” asked host Matt Lauer when the actress and mother of six nodded in the affirmative.

While Jolie, whose twins Vivienne and Knox, are only 3 ½ months old, tried to avoid answering further, she did note, “You can’t even start the process until any new children are six months old, to understand how the new family has settled.” Read more…

Jolie, Eastwood: Eye to eye on ‘Changeling’

Posted by Fai on October 16, 2008

Angelina Jolie is the brash young rebel. Clint Eastwood is the wise, grizzled veteran.

The mix sounds like the foundation of a buddy-cop movie, but it basically summarizes the creative chemistry behind Eastwood’s Changeling. It stars Jolie in the true story of a single mother searching for her kidnapped son in Depression-era Los Angeles after the wrong boy is returned to her.

It’s fitting that motherhood is central to Jolie’s role in the film, which opens in select cities Oct. 24. The actress and her brood of six with actor Brad Pitt have become a global sensation.

Fitting, too, what happened to her on the set. “I got pregnant during filming, yeah,” she says, then hesitates, suppressing a smile. Read more…

Angelina Jolie And Clint Eastwood Talk ‘Changeling’

Posted by Fai on October 9, 2008

Don’t ask me why I was the lucky guy to get this opportunity, but last week I had the exceedingly rare (and thus far only) opportunity to talk to Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie together on camera (check out the article here).

“Changeling” is the film they sat down to chat about and the rumblings you’ve heard since Cannes are true — Jolie is a sure bet for an Oscar nomination for this one. The disturbing (and true) tale comes out in limited released on October 24th but here are Clint and Angelina talking it up today.

‘Wanted’ Star Jolie Discusses Passing On The Action Torch, ‘Rolling Around On The Floor’ With Brad

Posted by Fai on

Angelina Jolie may be in ultimate ass-kicking mode on the big screen this summer with “Wanted,” but when she spoke with MTV News on the French Riviera, she looked more like the world’s most famous mom-to-be.

Caressing her stomach, she clearly had motherhood on the brain more than her character in the movie, Fox, the assassin-turned-mentor who favors dramatic gravity-defying action over words in what’s sure to be one of this summer’s most memorable action flicks. Still, in this rare interview, Jolie remembered well what drew her to the role as well as why “Wanted” co-star James McAvoy will never compare to a certain former co-star with whom she once tussled.

Angelina Jolie: A Candid Q&A

Posted by Fai on June 11, 2008

Think it’s difficult finding a Father’s Day present for the man in your life? Try being Angelina Jolie.

”Brad is the hardest person to shop for,” she says of her partner, Brad Pitt, while checking out a window display of Corum watches at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat in the south of France. ”He has impeccable design taste. And whenever he sees something he likes, he buys it for himself.” Pitt’s most recent gift to Jolie — the gun-charm necklace she wore to her EW photo shoot — is also a tough act to follow.

”Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios,” she explains. ”He’s all into war and guns. So for Mother’s Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It’s really cute. I think it’s really good!”

Leave it to Angelina Jolie to drop the words cute and machine gun in the same breath. The 33-year-old Academy Award winner has always cultivated dual identities: On the one hand, she’s been the Mistress of the Dark (as in her fascinations with tattoos, knives, and blood); on the other, she’s the Minister of Light (her work promoting international peace). Her next starring film roles keep that dichotomy alive: On June 27 she appears as Fox, a morally driven assassin who mentors a shlubby office worker (Atonement’s James McAvoy) in the graphically violent Wanted, directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch). And in October she stars in Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Changeling, as a 1920s single mom whose 9-year-old son disappears.

Changeling’s premiere at the recent Cannes Film Festival earned Jolie strong reviews, but her life off screen garnered even more attention: Paparazzi have been tailing Jolie, Pitt, and their four children (Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2) all over southern France. And last month’s false reports that Jolie, who’s expecting twins later this summer, delivered early caused a media maelstrom. (”I just think it’s all a bit crazy,” she says of the tabloid insanity in general. ”They just have to make up stuff. We find it odd all the time because we’re probably very boring people when it comes to many things.”) Over a lunch of filet mignon and iced tea, Jolie discussed her new films and her polarizing public persona.

Angelina’s life is Jolie indeed

The mighty-hearted actress finds there is no rest for a beautiful, wanted woman, writes Helen Barlow.
Glowing … Jolie at Cannes last week.

Whether together with her partner Brad Pitt looking radiant in a flowing green Max Azria gown on the glamorous Palais steps, or talking up her three movies with her usual aplomb, Angelina Jolie is the most wanted woman in Cannes. However, she gives very few interviews at the festival and as I wait expectantly for the heavily pregnant actress to enter the room at the end of a gruelling day, I wonder if she will have any energy left, let alone be up to discussing the details of her highly scrutinised life.

She doesn’t let me down.

Sauntering into the room in a floor-length black dress with a revealing V-neckline that shows her bulging cleavage which she pushes together with her arms when she talks excitedly, I can’t help but feel that the male population of most planets wouldn’t mind being in the room with me right now. A Woman in Full

It’s an established fact. Some women can’t stand being pregnant, getting big and bloated, and hauling around a giant stomach, and some women, for reasons probably understood by Darwin, love it. That Angelina Jolie is one of the latter can be seen in any of the thousands of pictures of the actress—who was, after all, impregnated by Brad Pitt, which is like being impregnated by a future man or a star child—that began to proliferate in the celebrity weeklies and supermarket tabloids in the spring of 2008, by which time Jolie, who is carrying twins, had bellied out like a sail.

“I love it,” she told me, smiled, laughed, then said, “It makes me feel like a woman. It makes me feel that all the things about my body”—she raised her hands as she said this, her fingers as long as those of a point guard, and made the squeezing motion commonly used to suggest fruit that is particularly ripe—“are suddenly there for a reason. It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing. Read more…

Angelina Jolie Uncensored!

Posted by Fai on May 30, 2008

In the July issue of Vanity Fair, out next week, Angelina Jolie shares her innermost feelings about life, love, marriage, and her career with writer Rich Cohen. The full story will be available on VF.com on Monday, but in the meantime here is an exclusive preview of her frank remarks about birth, babies, nannies, and more.

Angelina Jolie on being pregnant:
“I love it. It makes me feel like a woman. It makes me feel that all the things about my body are suddenly there for a reason. It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing. Also, I’m fortunate. I think some women have a different experience depend-ing on their partner. I think that affects it. I happen to be with somebody who finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy.”

Angelina Jolie on her international family:
“When I was growing up I wanted to adopt, because I was aware there were kids that didn’t have parents. It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other. I look at Shiloh—because, obviously, physically, she is the one that looks like Brad and I when we were little—and say, ‘If these were our brothers and sisters, how much would we have known by the time we were six that it took into our 30s and 40s to figure out?’ I suppose I’m giving them the childhood I always wished I had.” Read more…

Angelina Jolie: Sitting pretty

Posted by Fai on September 16, 2007

This is what you call a Hollywood moment. I’m sitting in the grounds of the Hôtel du Cap, a venue so reassuringly expensive even A-list stars probably think twice before ordering the lobster for lunch. In front of me is Angelina Jolie, she of the bee-stung lips and body so lithe it could make the beautiful people feel the need for a nip-tuck. In the background are the azure waters of the French Riviera, a calm counterpoint to the maelstrom that is the Cannes Film Festival a few miles down the coast. There, Jolie’s new film A Mighty Heart, the harrowing story of the kidnap and murder of the journalist Daniel Pearl, has just been unveiled to considerable acclaim.
