01/28 Angelina Jolie’s Moving Video Tribute to Mom

To mark the third anniversary of their mother Marcheline Bertrand’s death, Angelina Jolie and her brother James Haven posted a tribute video to their mom on YouTube.

As Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of “Over the Rainbow” plays in the background, the video shows Jolie (at around age 6) playing with her mom and brother in Hawaii in 1981. Marcheline is seen showing Jolie how to hula dance.

“We miss you Mom – with Love, Angelina and James.” reads a message at the end of the clip.

Bertrand died after a long battle with ovarian cancer on Jan. 27, 2007.

So is Angelina Jolie.”

01/22 Angelina Jolie Affair Story is False

Angelina Jolie’s dialect coach from her upcoming film Salt, says a tabloid magazine story claiming he and the mom-of-six are having an affair is utter nonsense.

Howard Samuelsohn told Radar Online, “I’m 5’6, I’m 51 years old, and I’ve never been to The Waldorf [Astoria Hotel in New York, where the alleged affair occurred].

“I would like for someone to get the word out. [The story] is total bulls***.”

While he was listed as the only dialect coach for the film, Samuelsohn said there five other coaches working on the project but scoffed at any notion that they could have been cosying up to Angelina off-set.

“No way, no way! The thing is this is all crap,” he said. “I’m sure it was not a dialect coach. If it was somebody I’m sure it was not a dialect coach,” he said adamantly. “What we do is very discreet, if you did stuff like that, you wouldn’t get hired.”

As for Angie herself, Samuelsohn had nothing but kind words, calling the actress “sweet” and “great.”

01/22 Angelina Jolie No Longer the Face of St. John

While Angelina Jolie hasn’t appeared in an ad for St. John for some time, the luxury knitwear company is speaking out on the absence of her famous face from their campaign.

The label’s chief executive officer Glenn McMahon tells WWD, “[Jolie] overshadowed the brand. We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”

So while other luxury brands have hired the likes of Madonna, Emma Watson, Eva Mendes and others to star in their upcoming spring/summer 2010 campaigns, St. John turned to red-headed model Karen Elson, a decision McMahon sees as a step in the right direction for the brand.

“We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John,” he says. “We have evolved.” And according to the label’s website, executive vice president of design for St. John, George Sharp, who also directed the new ads, views Karen as the “epitome of the modern day woman…the St. John woman… strong, confident, sensual and approachable with effortless glamour.”

Angelina Jolie hit the mall!

The mom of six, 34, took her four oldest children, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, and Shiloh, 3, to the Apple Store at the Fashion Square Shopping Center in Sherman Oaks, Calif. over the weekend.

There, she picked up a pricey gadget for Maddox.

“One of the store’s employees helped Angelina pick out an iPod Touch for Maddox,” a witness tells JustJared.com of the fancy iPod, which ranges in price from $199 to $399 depending on the amount of storage.

“The other children played on one of the kiddie computers while their bodyguard watched them,” the witness adds.

After their trip, the family — sans Brad Pitt and twins Knox and Viv, 18 months — headed to the Disney store.

The family is back in Los Angeles after spending the holidays in New York City, where Jolie was re-shooting scenes for her action flick, Salt.

Earlier this month, the family caught a matinee of Mary Poppins on Broadway.

01/19 Jolie’s Patricia Cornwell movie finds scribe

Screenwriter Kerry Williamson is wielding hers to adapt a feature screenplay featuring medical examiner Kay Scarpetta, star of the best-selling mystery series written by Patricia Cornwell. Fox 2000 picked up the rights to the books in April with Angelina Jolie on board to star.

The Scarpetta movie could be the launch of another potential franchise for Jolie because there are 17 Scarpetta novels. Putnam published Cornwell’s most recent, “The Scarpetta Factor,” in October.

Williamson’s thriller screenplay will draw from the world and characters Cornwell has created but not from any novel’s specific plot.

Williamson has her adapted script “Fork in the Road” in development with “Sideways” director Alexander Payne at Fox Searchlight and “Breaking the Bank,” from an L. Jon Wertheim-penned Sports Illustrated article, set up with “The Wrestler” director Darren Aronofsky.
