She may be the most photographed woman in the world. But even Angelina Jolie can fly under the radar.
The actress – who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan – made a surprise appearance at Monday night’s Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala, where she payed tribute to director Clint Eastwood.
In fact, Jolie’s appearance was so unexpected, the A-list crowd gasped audibly when she was introduced.

The UN refugee agency’s Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has concluded her first visit to Afghanistan, where she saw both the successes and the difficulties of return and reintegration. She saw first hand the country’s difficult humanitarian circumstances and called for more international support to meet critical needs during the coming winter.
Jolie’s two-day trip comes ahead of an international conference on return and reintegration to be held in Kabul next month. Co-hosted by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNHCR, the event will bring government ministries and donors together to see how the country’s absorption capacity can best be strengthened to support further repatriation. Angelina Jolie says that her priorities have changed from career to motherhood since giving birth to twins in July.
“The kids are my priority, so it’s possible that from now on I will make fewer movies. I may even stop altogether,” Jolie tells the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. “I no longer have the ambition I had in my 20s.”
Jolie, 33, who spoke to the magazine while promoting her new movie Changeling, says that as she has had more children, she’s come into her own as a mother.
“In reality my life is a lot more chaotic and adventurous now. Brad [Pitt] and I pilot airplanes, we travel non-stop, we go to difficult places and we have chosen to do it taking all of the kids with us,” said the mother of six. “I feel a lot braver now than when I was an angry young woman.” Read more…

The wheels are already turning in Angelina Jolie’s head, the Changeling star admitted in a lengthy Today show interview Thursday: She and Brad Pitt are considering another adoption.
“Soon?” asked host Matt Lauer when the actress and mother of six nodded in the affirmative.
While Jolie, whose twins Vivienne and Knox, are only 3 ½ months old, tried to avoid answering further, she did note, “You can’t even start the process until any new children are six months old, to understand how the new family has settled.” Read more…

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have always maintained he never cheated on then-wife Jennifer Aniston during the filming of their movie, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” but Jolie admitted to the New York Times they did fall in love on set.
“Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love,” the 33-year-old actress told the newspaper about looking forward to the day her children can watch the flick.
The Hollywood power couple have said there were sparks during the 2005 filming, but have never come out and said it was there where they fell in love. Read more…

Angelina Jolie, Microsoft Corp., law firms and corporate law departments are teaming up to create a legal system for children of parents involved in U.S. immigration proceedings.
The Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) will provide pro bono legal defense for unaccompanied children, according to the Redmond computer giant (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Jolie, a celebrity actress also known for her humanitarian work.
“Through our support of KIND, we hope to inspire the participation of many more representatives of our legal community to offer these children the fundamental protection they need. Every lawyer has a professional responsibility to provide pro bono legal services to those unable to pay,” said Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel, in a statement. Read more…

Angelina Jolie is the brash young rebel. Clint Eastwood is the wise, grizzled veteran.
The mix sounds like the foundation of a buddy-cop movie, but it basically summarizes the creative chemistry behind Eastwood’s Changeling. It stars Jolie in the true story of a single mother searching for her kidnapped son in Depression-era Los Angeles after the wrong boy is returned to her.
It’s fitting that motherhood is central to Jolie’s role in the film, which opens in select cities Oct. 24. The actress and her brood of six with actor Brad Pitt have become a global sensation.
Fitting, too, what happened to her on the set. “I got pregnant during filming, yeah,” she says, then hesitates, suppressing a smile. Read more…

Angelina Jolie, an advocate of adoption, credits partner Brad Pitt with her decision to have biological children. In an interview with W magazine, Jolie says: “One of the life-changing things that he did, one of many, is that I was absolutely never going to get pregnant. I never felt that it was the right thing to do.”
She says she changed her mind while watching Pitt bond with adopted children Maddox and Zahara.
“He stopped talking about having other kids in the other way,” she says in the magazine’s November issue. “So I suppose in my heart I realized he was happy with them as his children, completely. I knew he would never see them as different, and that gave me a certain peace.” Read more…

Could Angelina Jolie be voting for Barack Obama this fall?
“Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay,” she tells the German edition of Vanity Fair. “They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots.”
Still, Jolie - whose father, Jon Voight, has endorsed John McCain - says just because Obama would be a good example for her family isn’t “reason enough to vote for him.”
Despite living across the world (she flew back to Nice, France, this week), Jolie says, “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. Read more…

We’ve already seen the baby pictures — now see the photo of Angelina Jolie apparently breastfeeding on the cover of W magazine.

Jolie appears on the cover of the W’s November issue in a sleeveless top, which has been opened to reveal part of her left breast and a tiny hand ostensibly belonging to one of her twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, who were born in July.
The black-and-white photo shows Jolie smiling, her long brown hair cascading over her shoulder. The cover headline promises exclusive “private photos” of the 33-year-old actress by her partner Brad Pitt.
Jolie last caused a stir when she wore a white nursing bra underneath her tank top on the cover of People magazine after she and Pitt welcomed daughter Shiloh, now 2 years old. Read more…

Don’t ask me why I was the lucky guy to get this opportunity, but last week I had the exceedingly rare (and thus far only) opportunity to talk to Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie together on camera (check out the article here).
“Changeling” is the film they sat down to chat about and the rumblings you’ve heard since Cannes are true — Jolie is a sure bet for an Oscar nomination for this one. The disturbing (and true) tale comes out in limited released on October 24th but here are Clint and Angelina talking it up today.
